I describe my practice as Transit Art - Public Art - Visual Art, I've been earning my living as an artist since winning Year of the Artist in 2000 with Transit Art. Transit Art are enormous digital vinyl drawings made for the exterior canvases on articulated lorry trailers. Bringing art to the public by blurring boundaries between advertising spaces and spaces for exhibiting art, taking art beyond the confines of the gallery. My personal work explores figurative painting and drawing, I especially love sketching, acrylic painting, hand cut vinyl drawing and sketching, digitally and traditional. Recently I've revisited inks and wet media, capturing human emotion and abstract skyscapes. I love colour, shape, line, paint. My work is bold, uplifting and familiar, capturing the mundane and overlooked, inspired by people, emotion and working roles. My public artworks are large scale and site specific responding to people and place in both contemporary and historical contexts. I teach art to adults and children covering all aspects of painting, drawing and mixed media. My Art School classes at Caldecote Village Hall are a chance for adults to undertake 10 week projects which allow for creative exploration of guided themes, techniques and processes with an emphasis on individual exploration and decision making. We use a wide variety of paints and materials. I teach for Escape Arts, Atherstone Art Group and run LoveLego Club, I'm a member of Art Alert and I lead and collaborate on local heritage art projects. My work can be seen in town centres, hospitals, motorways and galleries. You can see my work locally at Nuneaton Bus Station and George Eliot Hospital.
