Betty Gadsby
Inspired by the natural world and gardening, my botanical paintings are mostly watercolour as I feel this best suits the varying textures found in nature but I have recently tried my hand at coloured pencil work, an example of which is the Artichoke. Pencils were used on this subject because the stiff scales were very striated, lending itself to pencil strokes. My studio (a spare bedroom which has been completely taken over by all things arty)is in Galley Common and I teach botanical art for beginners and improvers at Caldecote Village Hall which, as an ex school house, lends itself effortlessly to a happy learning environment.
I exhibit in The SBA Open Exhibition, London annually and shall be looking into an exhibition at Nuneaton Museum perhaps next year. Venue 19
