John E. Morgan
John E. Morgan After graduating with an Arts degree in 1981 from Coventry (Lanchester) Polytechnic, I ran art workshops in residential establishments. Then life got in the way, however, over the last several years I have been able to concentrate on my paintings. I attended art sessions organised by Arty-folks, who help individuals suffering mental health problems, before becoming a member of Art Alert. I have exhibited at George Eliot Hospital and Nuneaton Art Gallery, the Fish bowl and Mayor’s cafe in Bedworth and Lock Gallery and Glass Box in Coventry. I helped run a pop up gallery in Nuneaton and the Station Gallery, where Art Alert members displayed their diverse work. My work includes prints, paintings, 3D work and cards. I try to capture a moment, portray an emotion, happiness or sadness while creating challenges, which I then have to solve. I keep to imagery the viewer will identify with, a likeness that is both pleasing to the eye, but challenges ones judgment. Recently I finished working on a project entitled “Train of Thought”; based on trains, in acrylic, oils, pastels, and watercolour. I am now working on a project using a mythology theme inspired by the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, filling them with creatures from folklore.
